Three Reasons I Love Tijuana
This bustling border city is one of my favorite places
Yes, that Tijuana. Border city. The one with the busiest border crossing in the world. The one that many times is called the most dangerous city in the world.
I have been traveling to Tijuana for six years. At first ot was to volunteer with groups working wiht the refugee and immigrant populations there. Now it is still that, plus working with clients with my nonprofit fundraising consultancy.
Three of the many reasons I love Tijuana are:
I love the feeling of being in a border city. Filled with people from all over Mexico, along with activists from all over the world working to support refugees, immigrants, and victims of violence here. And then there are the people born and raised here; super kind and welcoming! I have met amazing people in Tijuana, and every trip here that lists grows.
I don’t have the economic facts about this, but I love that there are amazing businesses here creating all types of opportunities and creative communities. Tijuana has history of having money because of the cartels, and these days it’s pretty evident that there is a thriving business community. An evening at Telefonica is evidence of professionals in all areas creating and growing businesses of all shapes and sizes.
