When thinking about creating a nonprofit fundraising consultancy I never thought I would be having as much fun, or feeling as fulfilled, as I am.

I thought I would work for a nonprofit doing fundraising until I retired.

As I started realizing in my last nonprofit position that I wasn’t going to be there until retirement, I started thinking about Altrui.

Several months later, the day I knew came, and I gave notice.

Fortunately, I had begun working on Altrui before that. I had four weeks until my position ended and I was on my own.

During that time I:

Bought the website name for Altrui.

Hired a web designer.

Got the licenses needed to open a business. I decided on a sole proprietorship.

I continued building my social media presence.

I let everyone in my inner circle know what I was doing.

I asked for help and guidance.
