Stop Comparing Your Reality to What You See On Social Media

You are probably doing better than you think.

In nonprofit fundraising, it can be difficult to keep up with everything going on. That is, everything going on in your own realm.

In your fundraising world.

Although I am writing this more for those in nonprofit fundraising, the suggestions I make here can apply to any line of work.

Let alone everything that is going on with other fundraising teams that you see happening on social media.

That organization just had its best Giving Tuesday ever.

This development director over here just received a $25,000 donation when they asked for $10,000.

On the other end, the nonprofit on the other side of town saw no increase in donors this year.

It’s difficult to compare your organization to another without having so much more information than you probably have.

I suggest not doing it. Of course, learn from what others are doing, but like we say in recovery circles, don’t compare your insides to someone else’s outsides.

If you are struggling with any part of your fundraising, ask for help.
