Sexual Harassment

It happens frequently. It’s still acceptable.

NOTE: This story is about a man being sexually harassed by another man. The harassment was traumatic to the one who was harassed, and still affects him. I chose to write about it (with his permission) because I know how often this happens to women and men. This story is also about sexual harassment at an event, and I keep focus on that even though sexual harassment happens everywhere.

The story was not a surprise.

Living in the Los Angeles area, sexual harassment in Hollywood makes the local news more often than in other parts of the country.

As my friend told me his story, I remembered a very similar story from a Hollywood actor that made headlines a few years ago.

In the conversation I was having, I 100% trusted the source. I have worked with him for years. He is a warm-hearted person whose ethics have always inspired me.

His story of sexual harassment begins and ends like many others. The longer he talked about this, the more I realized how common this is in my own world, and how many people in my own communities simply disregard stories like his.

He arrived at a local community event, a dinner. He knew many in attendance, and settled in with a group of friends.
