Once the dogs are fed and the coffee is made, I walk into my office and start my day, typically around 5:00am. Being on the west coast, and having clients all over the country, I like being “open” by 8:00am on the east coast.

Note: I’m a morning person and I love starting the day early and getting a chunk of work done first thing. If this idea resonates with you, and you want to take four hours to be your most productive, the timing doesn’t really matter. Choose the time that works best for you.

Once in my office it’s all work. I already have my list of what I want to work on and I start with for that day. I also look at upcoming appointments and make sure I am fully prepared for any client meetings.

Email: During this time, I’m only working on client emails. I’m not checking my personal email or responding to colleaugues with my work email. It’s all work; all client focused. As much as I want to respond to one of my favorite colleaugues whose email arrived the night prior, that doesn’t happen during my four hours of focused work.

The email I do work in is anything client related, marketing related, anything that supports current clients and future growth.
