A good book that supports fundraising is not easy to come by.

I love reading. I’m always in at least two books.

Over the years, I’ve bought dozens of books related to my work in nonprofit fundraising. Sometimes I buy them to support the author, and others because I am curious.

“Thank-ology” was for both reasons. Lisa Sargent is someone I have learned from and respected for years. Anytime I see a post from her on social media I pay attention. I have heard that wisdom is the combination of knowledge and kindness, and this is Lisa, plus years of experience. On a personal level, I simply adore her.

And this book! Being in the U.S., it took weeks to arrive. When I received it, I made a coffee and sat in my comfy chair. I consider myself someone who knows how to thank people, who has that as part of my core.

I had no idea!

“Thank-ology” is filled with information, suggestions, experience, and kindness. I am taking my time with it and enjoying every moment.

I’m also taking notes, realizing that many wonderful ideas in it will be impactful as I build relationships with donors and clients.
