Fundraising Tip: Attend a Fundraising Conference.

One or more days of meeting other fundraisers and learning from them is an amazing experience.

If you are in nonprofit fundraising, try to attend a nonprofit fundraising conference.

I’m just returned from one and had the time of my life.

There are a few reasons why I think attending a nonprofit fundraising conference will benefit you.

First, you will learn.

A lot!

I am an “always learning” type of person and consistently leave a conference with my head filled with new knowledge and new ideas that I can take action on as soon as I get back to the office.

Next, you will grow your circles. That could mean circles of people you learn from, grow from, people you want in your inner circle, and colleagues. I inevitably meet people I want to be in relationship with at some level at conferences. I’m grateful for the dozens of people I have met and grown with at the Nonprofit Storytelling Conference.

Next, it’s wonderful being surrounded by others in your field, or a similar field. One of the things I love about NPSC is that there are hundreds of people attending whose sole purpose is to learn more and become better at their work so their organizations’ mission can be stronger than ever.

I love that.

Lastly, you will be inspired.

This happens to me every year at NPSC. There are so many sessions and amazing speakers and attendees, all doing work that inspires me. They make me want to do better, even though I feel like I am constantly trying to do better. They also remind me that this community (in this case nonprofit fundraising) is amazing.

No matter your field or arena, I’m sure there is a conference that you would love attending, and leave being better at what you do.

If you’re in the world of nonprofit fundraising, attending one will make you a better fundraiser.

Take a risk. Be of service. Support your friends and colleagues. Be kind.
