Fundraising Is Not About Money

Definitely not.

Me in the center, big smile, wearing a light blue dress shirt.

I talk about this often.

Too many leaders of nonprofits and nonprofit board members talk about making money. Many times these conversations leave out communities and donors. None of this benefits those you serve.

Fundraising is not about money.

It’s about relationships.

Relationships with your team, the staff of your organization, those your nonprofit serve, the board, and donors.

The stronger the relationships, the more focus on relationships, the less an organization needs to worry about “making” money.

Relationships win every day.

I recommend spending time building relationships. Every minute spent with that helps in taking your organization to another level.

I also recommend starting to talk about fundraising in this manner, and teaching those in your organization to talk less about making money and more about building relationships.

I promise you it will make a difference.

Take a risk. Be of service. Support your friends and colleagues. Be kind.
