Four years writing here and time for a refresh of my introduction.

I still remember the day I first heard about Medium.

Visiting one of my closest friends, having a chat and a little workout, talking about my business and nonprofit fundraising, he said to me, “You should be writing on Medium”.

Four years later, I am having the time of my life being part of this incredible community. And writing.

I’m Dan, a 60-year-old nonprofit fundraising professional, the Community Investment Officer for Survivor Justice Center, husband, dog dad to two rescues, veteran, vegan, lover of people and animals.

I believe in doing all I can to make the world a better and safer place, and I get to do this almost daily by working with Survivor Justice Center and colleagues with other nonprofits whose missions are not only deep in my heart and soul, but whose work is indeed making the world better and safer.

In my work life, I focus on supporting nonprofits with their relationship building, fundraising, and recruiting. My focus at Survivor Justice Center is to build relationships with donors in an effort to support the amazing work they do with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking.
